One of the highlights from my Marrakech trip was visiting Jardin Majorelle. The french painter Jacques Majorelle fell in love with the intense light of Morocco in 1923 and built a Moorish villa with a luxurious garden and a separate bright blue studio. In 1980 was the garden bought and restored by fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Berge. It is such a special place that Yves Saint Laurent had his ashes laid to rest at a memorial on the property. With over 300 types of plants and lots of carefully placed walks and fountains, the garden is a beautiful haven you can escape to when the red of the city gets a bit too much. Definitely a must visit place in Marrakech.
